Small Update

Nothing huge to report. I'm still applying for jobs. I've applied to public and academic libraries as well as Borders and other bookstores. Obviously a bookstore would not be somewhere I would want to work forever, but at least I would have some money coming in until I could get a library job.

Yesterday I found out how long my health benefits will last, which is through November 30th. With that knowledge I'm getting doctor's appointments out of the way before I lose my benefits. I already had a dentist appointment at the end of October, and I just made a doctor's appointment for mid November (earliest date they had).

I'm looking into volunteer opportunities as well, but I haven't actually done any volunteering yet. Still, it's only been a week. That's it for now.

Please consider applying for unemployment. The average benefit is about $300/week, and if you were not discharged "for cause"...that is, if you were laid off or otherwise fired for any reason not your fault (discrimination, harassment, etc.) then you're able to get it. If your employer says the termination was your fault and you'd like to contest that, you can (in VA, anyway) get the money until the state unemployment commission conducts a hearing regarding the issue.

I have applied for unemployment. Right now I'm waiting for them to tell me if I qualify or not.
