It's been a bit since I posted a general update, so here are some things happening with me. The next big thing starts tomorrow when I head to Charleston, SC for a few days. I'm going with other members of the Gwinnett Choral Guild because we will be singing in the Piccolo Spoleto Festival. Our conductor had to submit an audition tape to get us accepted in the festival. We'll be singing in St. Phillip's Church on Saturday the 5th at 1:00. I'm looking forward to it; it should be fun! I'm also staying a couple extra days in Charleston (leaving on Tuesday) because I've never been there before. I found a hotel about a mile from the church where we're singing, and about the same distance (give or take) from the main area of downtown. That's good because it means I can walk. From my research parking in Charleston looks horrendous, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere that DOESN'T charge you for parking. (This includes my hotel, although from what I can tell from my guide book I'm getting a really good deal on the room which includes breakfast and wi-fi.) I'll have Saturday after the concert and Sunday to explore Charleston. Then on Monday (or possibly Sunday depending on the weather) I'm going to the beach! There are several beaches close to Charleston, but I'm heading to Folly Beach. It has changing rooms and showers.

Otherwise I'm not doing too much this summer. I'm hoping to get to Six Flags one day, but that's very much up in the air right now. I'm also going home to PA for about a week at one point, but I'm not entirely sure when that will happen. I'd like to make it early August. My aunt and uncle from CA are going to be visiting then as well, and I haven't seen them since 2006. If I can time it right I'd also like to hit the PA Renaissance Faire. I was at the GA Renaissance Festival last weekend which was tons of fun, but in my opinion the PA Faire is better. I'll have to see how things work out.

The rest of my life is fairly unchanged. I'm still job hunting. I've sent out lots of resumes and been on a few interviews. So far nothing has resulted in a job offer. I'm also applying to non-library jobs, but, as we all know, the current job market sucks! I'm still getting unemployment though, so that helps. I also of course had money saved from when I was working. My rent was also lowered by $25 a month this year. That doesn't sound like a lot, but over the course of 4 months, that's $100. (Which I know is also not a lot, but it's one hundred more then I'd have otherwise.) Hopefully I'll get a job offer soon.

Since I have free time due to being unemployed I'm continuing to volunteer at Furkids. I love it! I go to the PetSmart near the Mall of Georgia every Wednesday and feed and play with kitties. Most of them are just the sweetest things. I've had several curl up in my lap. The kitties usually stay in the PetSmart for a few weeks to a month or so before getting rotated back to the main shelter if they're not adopted. I'm always happy to hear when they get adopted. I wish I could take them all home myself, but I can't. My own kitties, Lyric and Lyre, are fine, but they always give my clothes a thorough sniff after I volunteer.

I'm also continuing to go to Loop Group and my crocheting skills are improving. Most recently I've starting crocheting amigurumi (stuffed animals). I did a bear for my mother, and a cat for a friend's birthday. I'm going to have to do another cat for myself though, because the first one was adorable! I'm working on one last animal gift right now, then I'll do more for myself.

Lastly I'm being a librarian and reorganizing my bookshelves. I'm also keeping track of how many books I read this year. (42 so far!)
