Kitten Update
Feb. 6th, 2009 08:43 pmI have made a decision about what to do with the kitten. I will preface this by saying that here is what I tried prior to making this decision:
- I talked to everyone I work with, including volunteers.
- I talked to all my friends via notes here, on Facebook, and on a mailing list I'm on.
- I talked to a group of knitters/crocheters that meets where I work.
- I posted flyers around my apartment complex.
- I asked my vet if they could take him.
- I called over 10 no kill shelters including ones that would have required a couple hour drive to get to.
After all that I still had no takers for the kitten. My vet is full. All the no kill shelters said they appreciated what I was doing and wished they could take him, but they're full. Therefore I have decided to take him to the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter tomorrow. It is not a no kill shelter, but I can get his ID number when I drop him off and keep tabs on him. Should it get to the point where he might be put to sleep, I will certainly go get him! I'm hopeful that's he'll be adopted though since he's a very friendly kitten. I'm not completely comfortable with this decision, but I feel like I have no other choice. The kitten hates being locked in the bathroom. Lyric and Lyre don't like him and spend lots of time by the door growling. Lyric hissed earlier today too. There's also the fact that this isn't a huge apartment. I just don't have room for three cats! I'm going to drop him off tomorrow and keep tabs on him. If he doesn't get adopted... well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
