A General Update
Dec. 4th, 2007 10:24 pmThe end of grad school is fast approaching. I have exactly one assignment and one paper to write before I'm finished entirely. The assignment is a group project, and my part is almost completely done. The paper won't be hard because it's about my practicum experience, and I absolutely loved my practicum! I will be attending the hooding ceremony on December 14th. The actual graduation is the 15th, but I'm not going to that. Mom and dad will be down here for the hooding, and then we'll all head back to PA on the 16th.
In other news, the apartment I'm living in right now is student housing. Since I will no longer be a student next semester I have to move out by January 13th. I've been looking around for another place in Knoxville for the past month or so, and I think I found a place I'll like. For those of you wondering, my rationale for staying in Knoxville (as opposed to going home to PA) is that I'd like to get a job in the Southeast. I think that will be easier if I'm actually in the Southeast. The place I found is close to the main road but not right on it, which I like. There are also lots of built in shelves and good storage space. I'll have to rent furniture, but I don't want to buy my own furniture until I'm living somewhere I know I'm going to be for a couple years at least. And, as hard as it will be, I think I should also wait to get a cat until I'm somewhere more permanent. I want to make moving to that (as of yet hypothetical) permanent place as easy as possible. In addition, I can get a three month lease at this place which is important since I'll be job hunting, and may get a job offer a few months down the road. I don't want to be locked into a year long lease if that happens.
Speaking of jobs, I've had one rejection letter and nothing else. However I know not all places send rejection letters, and I'm pretty sure some of the first places I applied would have called me by now if they wanted to interview me. I'm not too discouraged though. I have more places to apply. Also, my supervisor at the Law Library said they have a policy of letting students keep working there up to one semester after they graduation, so at least I'll have some sort of job.
That's it for now. I hope others' lives are less stressful than mine currently is.
