My apartment overlooks and quad type area with a jungle gym. Today there's an International Fair out there; it's mostly for younger kids. There's face painting, arts and crafts, and... an Elvis impersonator for some reason. What Elvis has to do with the international theme, I'm not sure. Maybe this is a Tennessee thing?? All I know is I thought they were playing an Elvis CD until I looked outside. This guy is pretty good though. I also feel really sorry for him; it's at least 95 out there!

No! And I repeat, no!
Aug. 11th, 2007 06:47 pmI saw an announcement on IMDB today that they're going to make The Book Thief into a movie. There's no information except that the project is "in development". I can only hope that it doesn't actually happen. I love The Book Thief. It is one of, if not the, best book I have ever read. I'm re-reading it right now, and I love it so much. It's so sad and powerful and wonderful. I don't care which actors are cast or who directs it; there is no possible way that the movie will be anywhere near as good as the book. There is no way that the things conveyed through words on the page will be conveyed the same way through people talking on a screen. I just know some of the book's power will be lost in a adaptation. Gah! Why do people feel the need to make every book that becomes even semi-popular into a movie?
