Aliens Meme
Apr. 12th, 2007 01:48 pmI found this little meme somewhere online and decided to do it.
1. Do you believe that there is some form of intelligent life on a planet other than Earth?
Yes.
2. If there was, and we were to encounter it, which do you think would do more harm to the other: the Earthlings or the Extra Terrestrials?
Well, we're not likely to encounter it seeing as we're located on an outer arm of the Milky Way (a spiral galaxy). We're much further away from other solar systems than we would be say, if we were located neat the middle of the galaxy. It's just too far to realistically travel, for either us or aliens. Despite what Star Trek and other science fiction has taught us, you CANNOT travel faster than the speed of light. Still if, beyond all reason, we encountered aliens I think we would probably do more harm. After all, I have no idea what these aliens would be like. Humans on the other hand I have experience with.
3. If a close friend or family member told you that they had been kidnapped by aliens, how likely are you to believe them if they can offer no physical evidence?
I wouldn't believe them at all. See the above answer as to why.
4. If you could fly in a spaceship to get a close look at any of the planets besides Earth, which would you choose and why?
Saturn. I've always been into astronomy, and Saturn is my favorite planet. The first time my mom and dad took me to the Air & Space Museum in D.C. they almost literally had to drag me out. I was an odd child; the dinosaur bones at the Natural History Museum didn't interest me a whole lot, but the planets? I wanted to see pictures of those!
5. If you had the chance to live on a fully-developed colony on Mars, would you do so?
That depends what the word "fully-developed" mean. Assuming it means we'd have everything there that we have on Earth (except, you know, air) I'd like to visit. I don't think I'd want to live there though.
And in closing a line from Calvin & Hobbes: I think the best proof of intelligent life on other planets is that none of it has tried to contact us.
