Okay, so all of a sudden people are talking about how global warming is a serious threat to all life on this earth, what changes we can expect to see, and the fact that scientists are 90% sure humans are contributing to the problem. My reaction: this is news?? I'm glad people are starting to take notice. It's about time! My dad has been telling me about global warming since I was a little girl.

My family has always been pretty environmentally concious. We recyle, dad always told us to turn off lights, and not waste energy. And you had to have a damn good reason for using the lights if it was daylight out. Mom used to refuse to let my brother and I buy those lunchables things for school lunch because there was way too much packaging that was never going to biodegrade. This has all seemed a bit extreme to some people when I tell them, but to me it was normal to grow up conserving energy, recyling, and in general trying not hurt the planet too much.

It was good teaching, and it's carried over. I still recyle, try not to buy overly packaged things, and not only are my shades up all day with the lights out until night, but I turn off the lights in other people's houses! I care about out planet. And that's why this "revelation" that humans are causing global warming is annoying. The evidence was right there, and they're just now realizing this! And now due to this cold snap we're having in the East some people are probably going to conclude that global warming is not a problem. Because a week of cold weather in April means the planet will be fine. Yep. People are such idiots sometimes.

And now that my rant is over, back to my paper.
