Here I am, back in Knoxville. Despite the reservations of my mom, dad, aunt, and dad's secretary, I made the drive in one day. I was tired when I got back, but I'm so glad I did it all at once. It was wonderful to wake up here in my apartment as opposed to some random motel in Virginia. The drive was fine, although it started raining about half-way through Virginia and didn't stop the rest of the way.
The trip to PA and subsequent trip to California was good. It was wonderful to see my relatives again; it had been two years. I also just needed a break from school. And some quailty time with my cat. Carmen followed me around the house for a while. It was cute. :) And I have to admit my parents' new house is very peaceful. When you stand outside all you hear are birds and the stream - no cars, trains, lawn mowers, leaf blowers, etc. It was lovely, but I wish there was a way to get that quiet without leaving civilization behind. Oh well.
As much fun as my trips were, it's good to be home again. Visits to PA serve to remind me that I love my family, but I can't live with them. Classes start on Wednesday. (So soon!) Today I bought my books for class, went to Borders to spend my holiday rewards money, and went grocery shopping. It's good ot have food in my apartment! There was almost literally nothing when I got back last night.
I have some photos from my trips which I'll post later.
