To clarify the subject line, I'm not talking about issues with my current computer, although is does have it's own set of problems. I''m talking about a new laptop I ordered *because* my current one has problems. Dad is even helping me pay for it since I need it for school. I love my parents. Anyway, the order was placed on May 20th by my brother when I was in MD to see him graduate, because he knows more about computers then I ever will. I told Walt what I wanted to use my new laptop for, and he picked out some features and talked about things I only half-way understood. The order was placed, and I came back here to await the arrival of my new computer.

Two weeks pass. No arrival. I was a bit annoyed that it hasn't arrived yet, and also a bit worried since I had received no e-mails continaing order or cofirmation numbers. Nothing. I logged on to the webite we used to check my order status thinking, "Maybe something is backordered?" Well, they had no record I'd even placed an order! But I remembered entering credit card information on the website. So I call the credit card company to make sure we weren't charged for something I never received. They told me they had a record of the transaction, and it looked like it it had begun but had never been finished. I should call back in a few days to make sure the charge wasn't put on the card.

At this point I was more than a bit annoyed and starting to wonder if I'd even actually placed the order. The credit card company has a record of the transaction while the website has nothing. Today I finally called IBM. I ordered a Thinkpad, so I figured they'd know if an order was placed or not. I talked to customer servce rep and was transferred to someone in sales. Well, he was VERY helpful. Apparently my original order was cancelled on May 26th because of discrepancies between the credit card billing address (home) and the shipping address (here). The guy also went ahead and re-entered the order; it's being sent to PA. Mom and dad can ship it to me here when I get back from my trip. Besides, if it didn't arrive before I left, I wouldn't want it sitting here for three weeks. And this time I have an e-mail with a order and confirmation numbers. Woo! I also feel relived that this all got straightned out. Finally.
