Last night was the chorale's Spring Concert. I thought it went very well. We had seven songs, and a range of instruments playing with us. For one song we got an oboe and a flute, for one just the oboe, for two others a cello, and for one a French horn, all in addition to the piano. Except for "Nada Te Turbe" when it was just the cello. That was pretty cool. "Nada Te Turbe" was also probably the most complicaed song we sang, and we were good! In fact we were great on all the songs, save one shaky entrance during "The Duel". My friend Mandi and I had this conversation:
Me: Andrea says she thought "Goin' Up A Yonder" sucked, but I thought we were good. What about you?
Mandi: I thought we rocked!
Me: Thank you!
Mandi: We rocked on everything!
Me: Except that one entrance during "The Duel".
Mandi: Yeah, but we're not talking about that.

I could tell from our teacher's expressions, that she thought we did well too. Although she kept telling us to smile. And she gave us a "what happened there?" look during that entrance we almost missed. My favorite song we did was "Go Where I Send Thee". That song is a lot of fun but crazy, especially a the end. I think we were awesome during that song. After some rather scary rehearsals I didn't hear any wrong notes or miscues. BTW, for anyone from R-MWC who remembers the chorale there doing "Goin' Up A Yonder" and "Go Where I Send Thee", we sang the same arrangements last night. I was excited when our teacher first handed out music because I already knew two of the songs!

My friends Carrie, Jessica, Crystal, and Rebecca were there, and they said they really enjoyed the concert. I'm glad they all came and enjoyed it, but I was aprticularly glad to hear that from Carrie since I know she used to sing in a choir. Matt was there too, and he said he liked it. It's not the type of thing he normally goes to, but when I told him about the concert he said he'd come. :)

So all in all, a good concert. After every song (except "The Duel") I had a big smile on my face when we ended because I knew we had done a good job. I had fun and enjoyed it. Depsite the fact that I get scared whenever I have to sing by myself in front of others, I really enjoy performing as part of a group. As long as I can remember being part of choir I've always looked forward to and enjoyed cocnerts. Matt told me later that I should be ashamed that I'm afriad to sing by myself. I told him he's probably right then added, "But in a choir you can't hear my individual voice." He told me I'm up there singing and we sounded good so I must be doing something right. And you know he's right; about everything.
