I have a new project!
Aug. 9th, 2005 10:39 pmOkay, technically the only project I should be working on right now is the one where I pack up my stuff for grad school. Although in my defense I feel I'm doing relatively well with that. There's more to pack, but at least I'm making headway! And actually my new project came about when I was cleaing through things in my room. I came across an old folder of stories I had written for a creative writing class in high school. I started to read them. Some of them were bad; in fact, there was one I had to stop reading part way through becuase really, it was terrible. However, there were some where I liked the idea I had had but thought it might work better if presented differently. There were even a few where I liked the story itself, but thought that it needed to be re-worked a bit. And with that thought I had a new project dumped in my lap. I am currently in the process of typing these stories into my computer (all I have are paper copies), and then I want to re-work them. Turn them into something I'm happy with.
I'm actually very happy to be able to do this. I was writing a short story from scratch, and I got stuck. I have a beginning, and I know where I want the ending to go. The middle however is giving me problems. I deicded to take a break from it, but that left me feeling a bit lost. A couple of months ago I promised myself I would start writing again because I had discovered how much I missed it. So, I wanted to take a break from my current story, but had no ideas for another one. These stories give me the chance to revisit old ideas as well as to just keep writing. I don't know how long it will take me, especially after classes start, but I want to and will do this! And sometimes good stories just take time. I noticed that most of the stories I thought were okay or good had "late" written at the top by my teacher. Anyway, I'm happy with my project. :)
