These people were, like, nicer than they had any reason to be! As I was ringing them up we were talking, and it was one of those, "it really is a small world" moments. They live in Baltimore right near where my dad grew up. They have family who live in Towson, just like me. They mentioned thay had family in Nashville, and I was like, "Really? I'm going to Nashville for a week this summer with a friend!" Then I noticed the woman was wearing a UT sweatshirt. I told them I'm applying to grad school, and that UT is my first choice. They asked what I was going for, and I told them library science. They said UT was a good school, mentioned it had a great library, wished me good luck, took their purchases and left. About five mintues later though, they came back. I'm thinking, "Uh oh. Did I forget to give them the coupon on something? Forget to remove a security tag? Well, at least they're smiling, not angry." As I'm wondering what I forgot, they hold out the sweatshirt and say, "We're giving this to you. For good luck." I must have looked shocked because they added, "No strings attatched." After the said this a few more times, I finally got it and said, "Wow. Um, thanks!" They gave me the sweatshirt and left. I was blown away. These people randomly gave a sweatshirt to someone they talked to for, at the most, five minutes. This has to be some sort of sign, right? Owning a UT sweatshirt before I've even sent in my application. Also, there really are nice people left in the world. Working in retail can make you questions that, but today was good. That was the best thing that happened to me today, but today was just a good day in general. I still want out, but it's days like this that make me think, "Maybe this isn't such a bad place to be until I can get out."
